HARUKI MURAKAMI:
FROM UNDERGROUND TO 1Q84

A documentary by CLAIRE LABOREY

After the sarin gas attacks on the Tokyo underground in 1995, Haruki Murakami was stunned. In Underground, he gathers the testimonies of the victims and members of the Aum sect, revealing the taboos of an entire society. This foundational text would later inspire him to write his masterful and globally translated trilogy, 1Q84.
