History as we’ve been taught is so heteronormative that we feel suffocated. Yet, no era, no civilization, no religion has been able to totally erase non- conforming identities. In The Thousand and One Nights, the Hindu Ramayana, and the Viking mythology, as well as countless other tales from across the continents, there are characters whose gender identities are as diverse as anything in our modern world.

Queerstory is an animated series that revisits tales from around the world in which the heroes and heroines are queer. Through a selection of 20 myths and tales, the series creates a pantheon for these forgotten heroes. Blending history, humor, and references to 21st century pop culture, each episode will bring them back to life through animation.

These tales and legends will have you laughing, dreaming, traveling,

and rethinking the stories that you’ve been told.
